Writing prompt of the day: Write a Fibonacci poem

Writing prompt of the day: Write a Fibonacci poem

Fibonacci refers to a mathematical sequence in which each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers.

0+1=1

1+1=2

1+2=3

2+3=5

3+5=8

5+8=13

8+13 = 21

And so on…

This sequence is found in nature, music, and now writing.

This sequence is found in nature, music, and now writing.

Gregory K. Pincus, a screenwriter, children’s book author, and blogger, created the “Fib” poetry form as a writing warm up. Each number in the Fibonacci sequences represents the number of syllables for one line of your poem. The poem consists of six lines adding up to 20 syllables which looks like this:

1 syllable

1 syllable

2 syllables

3 syllables

5 syllables

8 syllables

Your challenge is to write your own Fibonacci poem in one day. Remember to write for YOU today.

Here is my attempt to write a Fibonacci poem:

A

leech

never

says thank you

for a blood offering,

but it drops with a full belly.

Your turn! Feel free to share your poem in the comments below.

And keep satisfying that writer soul by writing,

Rachel Michelle
